The Role
Your role would be to design, develop, implement and maintain web based software applications for Peak Net clients.
You will have at least 2 years experience in web application development. You should be able to understand and define customer requirements clearly and effectively. You will be well organized, used to managing your own time and able to set realistic deadlines and then meet them. Software Engineer Job Description
The Software Engineer is responsible for the design and development of web based applications for Peak Net clients. Software Engineers report to the General Manager. General Duties:
- Design, develop, implement and maintain web solutions using a variety of technologies.
- Provide general technical solutions as required
- Work both in isolation and as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Implement server-side code to produce interactive and database driven sites
- Provide accurate timescales and project plans for work based on verbal and / or written technical briefs
- Contribute to documentation (instructional, pitch and technical specification) where required
- Provide technical advice to other team members
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and colleagues in a professional and helpful manner
- Improve existing knowledge and acquire new skills through self-education, research and development.
- Maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability, and emerging technologies, and keep team members informed as appropriate, with a view to incorporating these in future projects and staying ahead of the market
- Disseminate technical knowledge to the rest of the team wherever possible

The role of Web Designer is responsible for the layout, visual appearance and usability of a website. It is a role that often overlaps with that of the software developers and requires a combination of graphic design and technical skills.
General Duties:
- Liaising closely with clients at the design stage to understand the client's business needs and help create the design brief.
- Producing a design or range of designs that will be attractive to the target user, has a logical navigation system and has all the features required.
- Writing web pages in a combination of codes, such as HTML, Javascript, Perl and Flash.
- Deciding on how images and other material will be digitally optimised and presented for the web.
- Ensuring that material on the web site is accessible to all potential users.
- Testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions.
- To be the first point of contact for a selection of customers regarding content, updating and website maintenance.
- Problem solving/diagnosis and error fixing.
